Dan Smith has nearly twenty years of experience working as a graphic designer, software architect and product manager in the education, technology and health and life sciences industries.
Dan has been working since 2018 as founder of Orthogonal, a consulting firm that specializes in branding, graphic design, and custom software solutions. The design arm of the firm has worked on high profile brand identity, print and web design projects for big box retailers, nonprofits, and emerging technology companies. The software arm of the firm has developed custom ERP, CRM, and machine learning solutions for global companies with unique requirements and business processes.
Dan is also a partner in the agile software consultancy Init6. In that role, he has supported technology teams in deploying lean/agile methodology at scale in their organizations, as well as advising on technology strategy, digital product roadmap development, and team building and execution.
Prior to his work at Orthogonal and Init6, Dan worked as a solution architect and engineer for Laureate Education. He led digital product development on student facing systems for projects in the United States, Brazil, Peru, and Honduras. In addition to his technology roles, Dan served a stint as director of new media for the global communications and public affairs team at Laureate.
He earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Loyola University and his M.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University.
