Matt Yale is the founder of Grove Partners. He has been the architect of several high-stakes corporate and civic campaigns and led activist defense engagements for a range of clients—including helping to facilitate the landmark deal that led to Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods.
Prior to launching Grove, Matt was the co-CEO of Tusk Strategies. Earlier in his career, Matt was the Senior Vice President of Global Communications and Public Affairs at Laureate Education. Before joining Laureate, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the U.S. Secretary of Education, acting as a senior advisor on policy and strategic planning and collaborating directly with the White House on critical inter-agency initiatives, including the nation's H1N1 flu response. Prior to his role in the Obama Administration, Matt was Vice President of Public Affairs at Ariel Investments.
Matt has appeared on Fox News and Fox Business, and his work has been featured in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Time Magazine. He is also a sought-after speaker, having addressed audiences at Teachers College, Columbia University; the Harvard Kennedy School; and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
His board and advisory roles include Chairman of the Board of the American Public University System and board membership at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. He previously served as a Charter Member of ChildObesity180 and a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Matt earned his B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University and his MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management.
